They're being recalled because they can start fires, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said. Vornado told the CPSC that it has received 29 reports of units overheating and melting. Among those were seven that reportedly caught fire. The company said one person suffered smoke inhalation, and another incident caused property damage from the soot and smoke. The 79,000 recalled Chinese-made space heaters were sold for about $60 between June 2013 and May at Bed Bath & Beyond (BBY), Home Depot (HD), Menards, Target (TGT) and other retailers -- and online through the company website and Amazon.com (AMZN). If you have one of the units, you're asked to contact Vornado to get instructions on getting a free replacement. You should not have to pay for shipping. Consumers can contact Vornado at (844) 205-7978 weekdays between 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern or visit the Vornado recall site. Off-season recalls can be problematic in terms of getting consumers to act. The most recent data from IRI shows Green Mountain Coffee Roasters (NASDAQ: GMCR) maintaining its market lead in the crowded single market with a 20 percent market share. Starbucks (NASDAQ: SBUX) has a 13 percent market share and total unit growth sales rose 47 percent year over, outpacing Green Mountain's 29 percent growth. Low-cost private labels as a group saw combined unit growth sales surge 470 percent year over year. Shares of Green Mountain lost 1.05 percent, closing at $106.00 while Starbucks gained 0.52 percent, closing at $73.07.

The stock was up 65 percent through the first half of 2014, a surprising spike for the leader in single-serve premium coffee, which was starting to see its growth decelerate. The initial catalyst for Keurig Green Mountain's surge came in February when Coca-Cola (KO) paid $1.25 billion for a 10 percent stake in the company. Coca-Cola paid roughly $75 a share for the stock, and it paid a much higher price for more a couple of months later when it boosted its stake to 16 percent. It's a significant development when the world's largest beverage company takes such a sizable stake in a niche player, but Coca-Cola's validation of the K-Cup champ has also made that investment more valuable. That initial $1.25 billion purchase is now worth more than $2 billion. Given the meandering ways of Coca-Cola's own business -- analysts expect to see flat sales growth this year -- riding the coattails of a hot beverage company could be just the ticket to silence those skeptics reminiscing about Coca-Cola's glory years of heady growth. The Mountain is Always Greener on the Other Side Coca-Cola's investment isn't the only reason why Keurig Green Mountain has been percolating. Despite losing patent protection for its K-Cup portion packs two years ago, growing numbers of coffee brands and retailers are turning to Keurig Green Mountain to fuel single-serve initiatives. BJ's Wholesale Club announced last week that it will have Keurig Green Mountain itself handle K-Cup production for BJ's private-label Wellsley brand. Among today's big winners was Keurig Green Mountain� (NASDAQ: GMCR ) , whose shares jumped 7.6% after Coca-Cola� (NYSE: KO ) said it will up its stake in the single-cup coffee brewer from 10% to 16%. Back in February, Coke said it would share its beverage portfolio with Keurig for the upcoming Keurig Cold countertop soda machine and take a 10% stake in the Vermont-based coffee roaster. Coke said, "These incremental purchases demonstrate our continued belief that Keurig Green Mountain has substantial growth potential," and, unlike its initial investment, these shares will be purchased on the open market, which will likely drive Keurig's share price even higher. Soda consumption has been declining domestically and Coke is looking for new ways to juice its growth. The Keurig Cold machine won't be out until 2015, so its popularity remains a question mark, but Coke's willingness to invest another $1 billion into its new beverage partner is certainly a sign of confidence in its future success. �

Here's a rundown of the week's best and worst. GoPro (GPRO) -- Winner The initial public offering market got some fresh meat on Thursday when GoPro went public. The company behind the popular namesake cameras that extreme sports enthusiast like to wear was a hit. It priced at $24 a share -- at the high end of its initial range -- and that still wasn't enough. The stock opened at $28.65, closing out its first day of trading with a 31 percent gain. GoPro's growth has been stellar. Sales soared 87 percent last year to nearly hit $1 billion. However, there was a surprising decline in revenue during this year's first quarter. New GoPro investors are assuming that the most recent quarter's dip was a fluke. If it isn't a fluke, they can record their stumble in glorious high-def. Aereo -- Loser Sometimes it's the disruptor that gets disrupted. Aereo, the start-up service that offers local TV channels as a streaming platform, was pummeled by the U.S. Supreme Court. In a 6-3 decision, the court ruled that Aereo violated the copyrights of major TV networks by streaming their content without paying transmission fees. The move isn't the end for Aereo, but its prognosis has clearly deteriorated. Aereo thought that incorporating tiny remote antennas that subscribers can access online was similar enough to actual HD antenna ownership by individuals that its business model would be found to be legal. That didn't pan out, and consumers are unlikely to get a break this way from their ever-increasing cable and satellite TV bills. Another earnings short-squeeze prospect is specialty retailer of women's apparel, accessories, jewelry and gift items Coldwater Creek (CWTR), which is set to release numbers Tuesday after the market close. Wall Street analysts, on average, expect Coldwater Creek to report revenue of $162.81 million on a loss of 63 cents per share.
The current short interest as a percentage of the float for Coldwater Creek is very high at 18.8%. That means that out of the 12.17 million shares in the tradable float, 3.47 million shares are sold short by the bears. This is a big short interest on a stock with a very low tradable float. If the bulls get the earnings news they're looking for, then this stock could easily explode higher post-earnings.
From a technical perspective, CWTR is currently trending just below its 50-day moving average and well below its 200-day moving average, which is bearish. This stock has been trending sideways for the last two months, with shares moving between $2.16 on the downside and $2.80 on the upside. A high-volume move above the upper-end of its recent range could trigger a breakout trade for CWTR post-earnings.
If you're bullish on CWTR, then I would wait until after its report and look for long-biased trades if this stock manages to break out above some near-term overhead resistance levels at $2.51 to $2.69 a share and then once it takes out more resistance at $2.80 a share with high volume. Look for volume on that move that hits near or above its three-month average action of 192,994 shares. If that breakout hits, then CWTR will set up to re-fill some of its previous gap down zone from June that started near $3.60 a share.
I would simply avoid CWTR or look for short-biased trades if after earnings it fails to trigger that breakout, and then drops back below some key near-term support levels at $2.35 to its 52-week low at $2.16 a share with high volume. If we get that move, then CWTR will set up to enter new 52-wee
